About Me

As founder and managing director of her company La Mode Fashions, Leah is a design creative whose love for fashion and background in retail management makes for a well-balanced integration of disciplines for La Mode’s service objectives.  She is an alumnus of Miami’s International University of Arts and Design (MIUAD) and has worked in multiple retail environments, both locally in the Republic of Namibia and in the United States.  In her current role as Director, Leah is tasked with a variety of responsibilities, from lead creative to governance and business development initiatives internally.

La Mode under her direction specializes in the identification proverbial voids in the marketing efforts of retailers and their marketers. For the consultancy arm of the business, Leah is charged with creating advertising programs, assisting retailers with branding efforts, analyzing existing advertising campaigns and monitoring brand quality. Leah creates brand touch points with consumers through print and social media and has mastered the art of brand engagement, which is a fairly disruptive concept in Namibian fashion retail marketing. By focusing on engagement programs that monitor the reactions/responsiveness of consumers to new products and branding initiatives, her campaigns are always consumer centric with the long-term objective of developing brand loyalty.

As an expression of her love for God, fashion and country, Leah writes about her dreams of a better fashion world in Namibia for herself and all aspiring Fashion Designers through her online blog and in the “weekender” section of the Namibian newspaper which is a nationally published news paper with a reach of 1,5 – 2,3 million people. Leah also created ‘fashion fiend’, a weekly fashion TV program that was aired nationally and continues to provide content online via YouTube.
Leah won an award for African Female Designer of the year in Ghana West Africa in 2014 and was featured on CNN’s African voices in 2016 as one of the future commercial fashion culture providers for Namibia. As a fashion enthusiast this blog is part of her fashion dream and the baseline to who she is and what her brand is truly about. If you understand her you will understand everything she does under the LMLAMODE brand.

Thank you for taking time to explore LM's world. My mission is not to direct beauty, but to point out what is also beautiful through fashion art. As Hans Urs von Balthasar wrote: " Beauty is the disinterested one, without which the ancient world refused to understand itself, a word which both imperceptibly and yet unmistakably has bid farewell to our new world, a world of interests, leaving it to its own avarice and sadness." so let us not hold too fast to the world's perception of beauty because it is bound to disappear, instead create your own notions of beauty. "The La Mode Effect" is my notion.

Au Revoir!
